Ubiik Teams Up with GCT Semiconductor on a private LTE-M network solution – announces plans to support Anterix

Santa Clara, CA, USA

March 6, 2022

Ubiik today announced that Hermes, its recently released world-first Release 15 LTE-M/NB-IoT Base Station, has been integrated with GCT’s GDM7243i LTE-M/NB-IoT chipset to operate on 900MHz. Anterix 900MHz (896-901/935-940 MHz), with up to 3MHz paired spectrum, offers a nationwide spectrum band in the U.S. for critical infrastructure and utilities, ideal for LTE-M and multi-carrier NB-IoT, as well as LTE broadband.

“We are pleased to have Ubiik as a member of our Anterix Active Ecosystem,” said Carlos L’Abbate, Chief Technology Officer of Anterix. “Ubiik’s base station solutions and experience in supporting utilities provide a strong complement to address our customers’ connectivity needs.”

Ubiik’s Cellular IoT Base Station Hermes combines a complete software Radio Access Network compliant with Release 15 and optimized for private networks with up to 5MHz of bandwidth, with multi-carrier standalone NB-IoT support as well as standalone LTE-M in 1.4MHz or 3MHz, including VoLTE.

“Hermes is a highly flexible solution for industrial or utility networks with stringent performance and capacity needs, as well as for unique hybrid solutions," said Fabien Petitgrand, Chief Technology Officer of Ubiik. "Its full software design makes it a unique, future-proof solution to support private networks in Anterix 900MHz with optimal performance and reduced cost.”

“Ubiik’s LTE-M/NB-IoT base station solution is a new innovative technology for private and hybrid LTE networks,” said Alex Sum, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at GCT Semiconductor, Inc. “We are pleased to be working together and supporting Ubiik with GCT’s GDM7243i chipset, which offers flexible architecture and connectivity for IoT. Together we look forward to providing and delivering added value for private LTE networks and Ubiik’s device ecosystem.”

Ubiik's end-to-end smart metering solution - integrating from an ANSI-compliant smart meter to the head-end system - is being demonstrated at TechAdvantage Expo in Nashville, TN, March 7-9, 2022.
