Ubiik Unveils UbiLRS: A Cost-Effective, Mission-Critical Grade Replacement for ELRS
Phoenix, AZ – May 7, 2026
Ubiik Inc., a wireless communications technology company, today announced UbiLRS, a purpose-built, natively secure, Electronic Warfare-resistant replacement for ExpressLRS (ELRS). Ubiik’s UbiLRS will be demonstrated live at XPONENTIAL 2026 in Detroit, May 11–14, at Booth 38013.
Command-and-control links are increasingly critical in the surging number of commercial and defense drone use cases, including safety and mission-critical infrastructure surveillance. While ELRS was originally designed by and for FPV hobbyists, it has successfully leveraged LoRa modulation to deliver low-latency, affordable links with good sensitivity, such that it is used extensively in mission-critical environments.
Unfortunately, in addition to supporting only non-NDAA-compliant hardware, ELRS remains unsecure with no encryption and the use of deterministic frequency hopping. Furthermore, ELRS suffers from the well-known limitations of LoRa: poor coexistence with multiple concurrent users, high overhead of LoRa packet structure, and limited flexibility offered by LoRa RF chipsets with support only for 900MHz and 2.4GHz.
UbiLRS retains the low latency, high-performance and simplicity of ELRS, with its support for CRSF interfaces to flight controllers, but introduces an entirely novel physical layer which includes:
-
Built-in security (encryption with an industry-leading 256-bit quantum-resistant stream cipher),
-
Non-deterministic adaptive frequency hopping across the entire 600MHz-950MHz and 1.7-2.6GHz ranges or a flexible subset thereof, and
-
A purpose-built software-defined, future-proof waveform, Platinum SS-FH, with 960kHz bandwidth,
Offering a strong focus on reliability and EW-resistance for long-range communication, UbiLRS provides refresh rates from 10Hz to 200Hz and sensitivity below -115dBm.
“With its robust and flexible waveform as well as state-of-the-art encryption, UbiLRS is the most cost-effective 100% NDAA-compliant solution to make high-performance software-defined control links a reality, There is no need to choose between affordability at scale and survivability anymore, with modules to be released soon with up to 28dBm of transmit power”.
Fabien Petitgrand, CTO at Ubiik
Part of a Broader Drone Communications Ecosystem
UbiLRS is the first in Ubiik's comprehensive roadmap of drone communication products. The company is developing a full range of NDAA-compliant, EW-resistant comms solutions for both defense and commercial use, built upon cost-effective platforms.

“UbiLRS has been designed as a drop-in ELRS replacement at a fraction of the cost of proprietary radios. Customers can use the same CRSF interface, the same form factor and it is compatible with ArduPilot, PX4, and Betaflight, We have exciting developments in progress for cost-effective, secure H265 video transmission and low-power AI-enabled drone platforms. We invite potential partners to reach out.”
TH Peng, CEO at Ubiik
UbiLRS will be demonstrated at XPONENTIAL 2026 at Booth 38013. Drone OEMs and defense integrators interested in evaluation units or integration partnerships are invited to schedule meetings here.
