FCC Approval Secured: Ubiik freeRAN™ Base Station Supports Band 8 LTE Devices at 926.5 MHz

FCC Certifies freeRAN™ for 926.5 MHz Operation in the ISM Band
Ubiik has reached an important milestone for its freeRAN™ private LTE platform with the Federal Communications Commission granting certification for 3 MHz operation at 926.5 MHz in the 902–928 MHz ISM band. This certification ensures that any 3GPP Band 8-compliant device can now connect to freeRAN™ without hardware modification, a breakthrough that greatly expands compatibility and simplifies deployments.
Overcoming Previous Band 8 Limitations for Broader LTE Device Support
Until now, freeRAN™ had been certified for 1.4 MHz and for 3 MHz centered at 926.3 MHz, but not at 926.5 MHz (the only fully standard LTE channel that fits within the 925–928 MHz downlink portion of Band 8). That gap meant many off-the-shelf LTE routers, IoT modules, and virtually all smartphones could not connect to freeRAN™. Developers often had to work around this limitation by sourcing specialized modules such as Sierra Wireless HL7810 or Sequans Monarch 2, driving up costs and adding complexity to integration. e eyes and a great go-to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

The chart illustrates the frequency overlap between the 902–928 MHz ISM band and the 3GPP Band 8 downlink range (925–960 MHz). It highlights 926.5 MHz as the key operating point, the only fully standard LTE channel that fits entirely within both bands. This visualization demonstrates how Ubiik’s freeRAN™ now bridges the two frequency ranges, enabling seamless compatibility with all Band 8 LTE devices.
Innovative Digital Filter Design Enables Standard 926.5 MHz Certification
By introducing a new digital filter design, Ubiik’s engineering team overcame FCC Part 15 band-edge emission constraints, enabling certification of the standard 926.5 MHz channel. With this achievement, freeRAN™ can now interoperate with a wide range of LTE devices already on the market, providing higher performance at 3 MHz bandwidth while eliminating the need for custom hardware configurations.
How This Certification Benefits Utilities, Industry, and IoT Providers
The implications are significant. Utilities, industrial operators, and IoT solution providers can now deploy freeRAN™ with greater ease, leveraging a standardized configuration that improves throughput, reduces integration time, and broadens device support. For the ecosystem as a whole, this certification brings LTE in unlicensed ISM spectrum closer to the accessibility of Wi-Fi, while retaining the reliability and security of cellular technology.
freeRAN™ 926.5 MHz: The New Standard for Private LTE and IoT Deployments

A goRAN™+ base station is a 2-in-1 private LTE platform from Ubiik that is FCC certified for operation in the 915 MHz ISM band at 926.5 MHz and Band 106.
Going forward, 926.5 MHz at 3 MHz will become the default configuration for freeRAN™ and goRAN+ in ISM deployments. This update reflects Ubiik’s commitment to lowering barriers for private LTE adoption and building a more open, modular, and high-performance connectivity platform for the future of IoT.
